fun sunday
lets see. church in ze morning. then mee-pokked for lunch. then went to limbang park to play footyball. yours truly scored a brilliant goal. brilliant in the build-up, cos there were like 7 or 8 passes leading up to it? and it was street soccer as well. to string 7 or 8 passes tgt before scoring in street soccer is an achievement unto itself
den had the party. i seriously need to master semi pro and professional levels in Fifa09. also played TAITI, BRIDGE and HEARTS. whoever created poker cards and games involving poker cards is a genius. also watched football throughout. den when everybody else had gone home, watched blackburn vs man city at 12.15am. pro game lah. up until the 88th minute blacky were leading the other team in manchester 2-0. and then the supposedly richest club in the world scored in the 89th minute to make it 2-1, and then a 94th minute equaliser. wtf??? drama. also watched vietnam score the last minute tyco header against thighland i mean thailand. theyre prob going to name the stadium after Le Cong Vinh. i mean, they did name their capital after Ho Chi Minh
10.5 more hours to Man Utd vs mee rebus! also prob going to watch Blackpool vs Wolves
if Waisiong and/or Daren are reading this, let me copy ur chem and maths when sch reopens. i wouldnt mind if u lent me before tt as well. chankyewps

weird christmas
its been a strange christmas 2008. something's missing. today got 2 presents frm my relatives. and yet it feels damn weird. like i don't deserve those presents. =x dunno. this year i havent wished as many ppl as i did the previous few years. excluding relatives, i only wished like 7 or 8 ppl? and tts excluding smses. hmm. maybe its just the realisation and acceptance that Christmas isn't about presents or shaking ppl's hands. It's about Jesus being born into the world (read my post on 17 dec) and that alone makes Christmas much more meaningful than any amount of presents and/or well-wishes
anyway went to mug with Ying today. supposed to go to jrl, but then decided to go lot 1 library instead. must say kudos to the twits behind the reconstruction. the new library is much much much much much more conducive than the old one in every way. the mugging session only confirmed one thing: IM GOING TO FLUNK A LEVELS. crappppppppp. although at least my AP/GP and integration skills are still intact. but distinguishing tests and deductive qns for chem? im dead
also saw this super big housefly at e library. it was about 3cm long? uber creepy
den munched at kfc before going home to nap before going to uncle's house for dinner. man oh man. the first of many steamboats =xxx esp with chinese new year next month
yea. going to play football tmr (?) before ze party!!! prob watching newcastle vs kidneypool with Ying. im hoping Microwave Oven (michael owen) scores against his former club, if only to ji seow kidneypool. and then Man Utd vs mee rebus on tue morning! wooo

den trained to clarke quay to meet e rest before heading to liang court for dinner. had to wait until 7.45. bleah. and after dinner we spent like half an hour settling the bill? double bleah. den crapped around near central until 11.15 before 190ing home. shiok
yea Christmas midnight mass in 9.5 hours! woots.
also cant wait for sunday. so far abt 6-7 ppl confirm, with another 2 tentative. too bad e girls couldnt come, as well as guys like Andy and YY. ah well

today: met e 4/8 guys for lunch. den went to cck stadium to play football and later handball. played frm 3-6...now pooped...
yea. The T is totally addicted to
I'm Good, I'm Gone by Lykke Li and
Kids by MGMT. thanks a lot, Fifa09 soundtrack. now i cant get those two songs out of my head.
Platform Moon by Jupiter One and
I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How to Dance with You by Black Kids are two other songs. aint bad
The T is also addicted to Hexic. my record is 11 starflowers! But I still havent managed to create a single black pearl! If anyone reading this is an expert on Hexic, tips and hints are much appreciated
The T also wants to watch these three movies:
Yes Man,
Benjamin Button and
Bedtime Storiesand finally, the Champions League draw for e round of 16 saw Man Utd vs Inter-Milan. me is absolutely chuffed, cos we'll get to see the Special One at Old Trafford again. plus here's hoping Real Madrid stuff kidneypool. I'd love to see either a Man Utd-Real Madrid or Inter-Milan-Real Madrid final. simply cos i support those three teams from England, Italy and Spain. another all-English final wouldnt be bad either. so come on you Mancunians, Madridistas and Milanese (not manchester city, atletico madrid or ac milan btw. they all suck.)
PS barcelona
SUCK. and may Singapore thrash vietnam on sunday

Christmas. What do we think of when we see or hear that word? What images plant themselves into our minds? A big, luscious christmas tree with either an angel or a star on top? What about opening the presents on Christmas morning, hoping and praying that for once, you actually got what you wished for? Perhaps a certain red-nosed reindeer whose name rhymes with golf? And of course, what about a fat, jolly chap, decked out in red and white, head covered with a cap to shield him from the winter (not that he needs it; his obesity ensures eternal warmth) and a long, silver/white beard? Unsurprisingly, those thoughts and images are the first things to permeate one's consciousness when one thinks about Christmas. And given today's modernised world, where money talks the loudest, that is only to be expected.
But are those really the true meanings of Christmas? hell NO.
Christmas is the day when Jesus was born, so that He would die for the world. The world's most powerful king ever was born, not in a fancy hotel, not in a glittering palace, but in a stinky manger, surrounded by animals. That was about 2008 years and one week ago. That, to me, is the true meaning of Christmas: the birth of the Saviour. If not for Him, would our sins be so readily forgiven? Obviously I'm not in a position to predict what God would or would not do, but I think the answer to that question is no. I mean, He even sent a flood to drown the earth because He was getting pissed with the way humans were behaving. Hence with Jesus's entrance into the world, it ensured that all of us would be saved.
Back to the first point. Some people find it hard to fathom Christmas without dear old Santy Claus. No good old Saint Nick? What in the world? No presents for me under the tree?? WTF?!
Sadly, this attitude is prevalent in today's world. We have reached a stage where practically everyone has a 5-megapixel phone, a 100 Mbps laptop, and an 80 GB mp4 player. So-called "necessities" of life. To be honest, I don't know what I would do without my computer, handphone and ipod. Hence I don't want to criticise others for doing so, as that would be disgustingly hypocritical.
But what I do want to criticise people is when they put all these materialistic things over what is truly important. When you see people regarding Christmas presents as more important than Jesus's birth, or merely dismissing Christmas as "just another season", that truly is tragic. This shows the apathy regarding Christmas, or a lack of appreciation as to what the 25th of December truly means.
Likewise, Chinese New Year. Is it purely about receiving red packets? Adding those delicious, crisp notes to our bank accounts? First, let me admit that I do take the amount of money I receive into account. After all, only a fool would dismiss money's worth, especially with the current recession. But is money the be all and end all? Once again, to look forward to CNY purely for the money one will receive shows a failure to understand the true meaning of CNY. Which is what I have been trying to emphasise for Christmas: to see Christmas purely as a season of presents totally defeats its whole purpose.
Having said all that, I honestly declare that in a week's time, I will be eagerly looking forward to whatever presents I receive (if any). And one month from now, I will be going through just how much paper (or rather, plastic) bearing numbers and Yusof Ishak's emo face I have collected. But I will not allow that to deviate from the true meanings of the occasions for which they are commemorated.
